Mar2012_NETWORK TOPIC
Here is what is coming up just in the first half of 2012:
– MEET THE CANDIDATES – Thursday 15th March
– PADDYMANIA March 16th
– Police Charity Trivia Night March 17th
– ELECTION – State Government – Saturday 24th March
– ELECTION – Local Government – Saturday 28th April
– Dayboro Rodeo on Sunday 6th May.
– Charity Cabaret on Saturday 12th May
– Dayboro Day Festival on Sunday 27th May – It is their 21st festival – and my how it has grown from strength to strength in that time.
– It will be Dayboro’s 57th annual show this year – on July 6, 7 & 8. Well done to the dedicated committee, stewards and other workers that make this happen each year. I’m sure they would keenly welcome offers of assistance and sponsorship. Contact Secretary, Alison Taylor on 3425 1459. (She’s a TV star now! – Did you see her on Totally Wild recently? . . When they were covering aspects of the Ekka, there was Alison in the kitchen!)

Sadly we said farewell to local Police Officer, Troy Nowitzki, and his family as they headed off to take up positions at St George (see page 21). Being a bigger Police Station, with 12 Police Officers, Marnie will be returning to Police work. According to what was said at Troy’s farewell, Dayboro Police Station’s 2 staff do half the volume of work that they do at St George with their 12 officers!! I didn’t realise that our boys were kept so busy!! Remember when Dayboro only had 1 Police Officer? . And our Police column frequently reported that there had been no crimes committed in the last month?!! I recall a former resident, David Benedict, sending a copy of our paper to relatives in the USA who were amazed to see that in our Police report and really envied us. David has recently ‘down-sized”, having sold his acreage and moved away from the area.
