Mar2011 Plant one on me!
(Eco weddings are in)…
Local civil celebrant, Karen James-Pearson is predicting that 2011 will be a bumper year for marriage ceremonies. She has already been engaged by many couples who have heard about her relaxed and friendly approach to helping couples design their dream ceremony.
“I am seeing several strong themes emerging this year,” says Karen, “one of which is that a lot of couples are choosing low-key, ‘eco’ weddings, where the bride carries native flowers, rather than a large ‘traditional’ bouquet and where the Bride and Groom are asking for donations to be made to charitable organisations, in lieu of receiving wedding presents.”
Although most of the marriage ceremonies Karen conducts are ‘traditional’ civil ceremonies, she has also been approached to assist with slightly less orthodox ceremonies, such as a Medieval-themed ceremony which she conducted at last year’s Abbey Festival, a Pirate-themed ceremony which she will conduct later this year and a 2011 Brisbane parkland wedding where the family’s pet dog will act as the flower girl…
“Every ceremony I help couples design is unique and special”, says Karen. “I love working with the bride and groom to-be, helping them to bring their dream ceremony alive. It’s amazing how creative people can be once I have helped them to get their ideas moving along. In fact, I have heard some of the most beautiful, tear-jerking vows come out of the mouths of really strong and tough men.”
Karen has many books and materials, including sample ceremonies, to lend couples she works with and these, along with her professional advice and continued coaching, makes writing a unique dream marriage ceremony a simple and low stress process.
