Mar2011 Happy 100th Birthday

Word has gone out on the bush telegraph calling all past residents of our community to help celebrate the 100th birthday of the Dayboro Anglican Church.
Many past and present Dayboro residents have celebrated major life events in the old wooden church, and for many of our seniors, the weekly trip to Sunday School down winding mountain roads is a special childhood memory. So far, guests from as far away as Toowoomba and Dalby are hoping to attend this month’s centenary celebrations.
Members of the current congregation are working on displays of photos and memorabilia for the event on Sunday 13 March, which will begin with afternoon tea and storytelling at 3pm. At 5pm, the Archbishop of Brisbane, Phillip Aspinall, will officiate at a special centenary service.
“The whole community is warmly invited to join us,” said Rev Chris Johnson. “Whether you have a past connection with the life of the church, or just an interest in Dayboro’s community history, we’d love to see you there.”
All guests are invited to bring old photos of events at the church for possible inclusion in a centenary booklet.
