LETTERS TO THE EDITOR April 2010

Dear Editor,

TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS

I would like to thank everyone who helped me celebrate my 80th birthday at the Dayboro Bowls Club in February.  (Isn’t it a great place for a Party!)
What an exciting day – you just didn’t know what Laurel would come up with next.
Lovely to see my bowling and tennis friends, old neighbours etc and all of us seven sisters and brothers were there also.
Thank you to my 3 girls – Heather, Laurel and Lyn – for working so hard in the kitchen;  and to Steven and Nev for all the BBQ cooking.  The grandkids loved helping all day – me!  I wasn’t allowed to do anything all day!!
Lastly thank you to Des for putting up with me for 57 years (on 21st March).
Thanks everyone for the presents, scratchies, flowers and beautiful cards.
Thank you

Edna Wruck,
Dayboro

Dear Editor,
THANK YOU BRAVE SHAVERS
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all Queenslanders who have stepped up and shaved, coloured or waxed this year to help leukaemia patients and their families.
Blood cancers can affect anyone of any age at any time. World’s Greatest Shave is our major annual fundraiser and allows the Leukaemia Foundation to continue to fund important advances in blood cancer research and to provide vital support services for the 2000 Queenslanders expected to be diagnosed with a blood cancer this year.
The Leukaemia Foundation is extremely grateful to the many Queenslanders who have directed their time, enthusiasm and energy towards fundraising and spreading awareness of the work of the Foundation.
I am confident that we are on target to reach our goal this year of $3.5 million, which is fantastic news for the people who depend on the Foundation for personalised care and practical assistance when they need it the most.
The Leukaemia Foundation receives no ongoing government funding and so relies on the generosity of the community, individuals and the business sector to meet its Mission to Care and Vision to Cure.
Thank you once again to everyone who was brave and shaved or supported friends, family or work mates who participated. Your support makes a huge difference to the lives of those affected by blood cancers.
Peter Johnstone
