TRAIL RIDES: 4th Sun 8.00am, Dayboro Showgrounds, off Mt Mee Road.
Our last ride attracted 18 happy horse riders, one of whom rejoined the Club after some years away – welcome back Martyn!
We left the Showgrounds via the park and Edmonds Court, (a little problem here with two riders down ‘retrieving their hats!’).
No harm done and we carried on to McKenzie Street, Riverview and Hillview Courts, through the park and finally, after three previous attempts, we were able to ride down and across the river to Humble’s, Richardson’s, Dick Baker’s, Caryn and Nigel’s, Dick’s place again, criss-crossing the clear creek several times, and up into places most riders had never been before. We crossed the creek a few more times, chatted with Dick and Jenny for a few minutes, then back towards the river through Humble’s, Hillview Park, past the cemetery, into Edmond’s Court and home for lunch.
After lunch we discussed the participation of our Club in the Anzac Day parade and service. It was a privilege and pleasure to be part of this day when we remember the fallen and lay a wreath.
We will also be taking part in the Dayboro Day parade as well, another event which the Club looks forward to each year.
Our members recently conducted a very successful working bee cleaning rust from panels, repairing/repainting where needed; and with only a few more to paint the job will be finished and they should be good for another 10 – 15 years. Thanks and appreciation to those who worked.
Our BIG OCTOBER RIDE is fast approaching, (1st weekend in October, 3rd, 4th and 5th), and this year we will be making the Saturday night meal one you will not want to miss! Roast beef and pork with 5 vegetables, dessert, tea and coffee, all for only $15!
We have been very fortunate to acquire the services of chefs and bakers – chef, Alex Mac, and his ‘culinary cowboys’ specialise in this style of catering.
Everyone is welcome and if you would like to come along please let us know as we will need to know numbers for catering purposes.
