Budget 2015
The Budget announced great measures for small businesses, young people, families and pensioners.
The Coalition Government’s new Stronger Communities Programme will provide $45 million to not-for-profit organisations over two years to fund small capital projects in local communities.
Our community will receive funding of $150,000 per year over two years, with grants between $1,000 and $20,000 made available to support local projects that deliver social benefits.
I will be consulting closely with eligible organisations in Dickson to identify high priority projects.
Further information on how to apply for the Dickson Electorate grants will be advertised in the local media and on my website www.peterdutton.com.au in due course.
Local Small Businesses are also set to benefit from the Government’s Growing Jobs and Small Business package. The package includes the lowest small business company tax rate since 1967, and an immediate tax deduction for each and every asset purchase up to $20,000 from last night to 30 June, 2017.
Small business is a hugely important local employer and the driver of our local economy. The new $5.5 billion Growing Jobs and Small Business package will help small businesses in Dickson invest more, grow more, and employ more. This is the biggest small business initiative in our nation’s history.
Child care is being made simpler, more affordable, accessible and flexible. Our new Families and Child Care package will mean families on incomes between $65,000 and $170,000 will be around $30 a week better off.

Red Shield Appeal Success
On Friday the 8th of May I officially launched the 2015 Pine Rivers Red Shield Appeal.
The Launch heard from keynote speaker Hannah Stead. Hannah spoke of how the Salvation Army’s Youth Outreach Service (YOS) helped her to get her life back on track, following tragic experiences with domestic violence and youth homelessness.
The Launch was sponsored by Club Pine Rivers, and provided a vital kick start to the appeal, raising $16,735 through donations and a charity auction.
The Salvation Army helps more than a million Australians every year, and any support we can give back truly makes a difference.

Score a Goal! Register for Sporting Schools
I urge all local primary schools, clubs and coaches to sign up to Sporting Schools, The Abbott Government’s new initiative to get more kids active and healthy.
The $100 million Sporting Schools programme will become Australia’s largest school-based participation program reaching over 850,000 children in primary schools nation-wide.
Registering as a school or coach is easy via the Sporting School’s website and once completed, schools and coaches can access online resources and materials to deliver tailored sport programmes.
More information on Sporting Schools can be found at: sportingschools.gov.au
Dayboro War Memorial – ANZAC Centenary
This ANZAC Day, it was fantastic to see the new memorial constructed to commemorate the Centenary of the ANZAC. I was very proud to have assisted in securing funding for the project.
The Dayboro War Memorial Association received around $16,000 in Federal Government ANZAC Centenary funding, as a part of the $125,000 pool provided to our local Dickson community.
The ANZAC Centenary is the most significant remembrance event of our lifetimes, and projects such as this ensure the spirit always lives in our community.
Bowel Cancer Awareness Month – June
June is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month. Bowel cancer claims the lives of 77 Australians every week, and is the second most common type of newly diagnosed cancer in Australia.
Bowel Cancer Awareness Month is about saving lives through early detection. Bowel cancer is one of the most treatable types of cancer if found early.
