Dayboro Community Art Gallery Artist of the Month for June is myself, Brian Moore. For the past year I have been the person responsible for submitting this piece about other gallery members. I am proud to be a member of this special community place, which gives opportunity for artists like myself to display and sell work, as well as receive invaluable encouragement to keep making. I enjoy painting, but know nothing about it really, except that I find it challenging and it makes me happy when I think I get it right. Mostly I make sculpture from found metal. I collect components from waste depots, garage sales and get really excited in other men’s sheds. I like it that my works create conversation and storytelling, reminiscences stimulated by rusty metal objects, such as an old tractor seat or a farm tool. I like to keep it simple and encourage as many people as I can to create and smile. So, if June is making you feel cold grey and miserable, giving you the winter blues, come down to Dayboro Community Art Gallery. It will warm you up 7 days a week 10am to 3pm.
