June2012_Local Playwright sweeps the stage
Sharyn Durley, a local barrister and playwright, pictured with winning cast members of her one act play ‘Pieces’, winner of the inaugural Edythe Brook Cooper playwriting competition. The play also won the awards for Best Actor – Male, Best Actor – Female and Best Director.
Sharyn was presented with the perpetual trophy (to keep for 2 years!), a personal trophy and a cheque for $2,000.
The Edythe Brook Cooper playwriting competition is a national bi-annual competition organised by BATS Theatre Buderim Inc. Scripts were received from around Australia. The scripts were assessed blindly by a panel of experts and the finalists decided. BATS Theatre Inc (Buderim) produced the selected plays on five nights, with the results being announced at the end of the final night.
