June2012_FORUM SEEKING INPUT ON REGIONS TOURISM FUTURE
State Member for Pine Rivers, Mr Seath Holswich, is delivering on his pre-election commitment of holding a Public Forum to discuss the tourism needs of the Pine Rivers region.
Mr Holswich is holding the Forum as a starting point for what he hopes will be an on-going process designed to encourage more tourists and tourism operators into the region.
“We live in a beautiful part of Queensland and we need to be working towards showcasing that to visitors and encouraging more visitors into our region.”
“Tourism is one of the 4 pillars of Queensland’s economy that the State Government is committed to developing,” Mr Holswich said.
“Locally, I want to see a thriving tourism industry bringing more jobs into our region.
The aim of the Forum is to kick start discussions about what is needed in order to give us the best possible opportunity to attract more tourists to our region.”
Mr Holswich is expecting a wide range of suggestions to be tabled at the Forum including road infrastructure needs, marketing suggestions and examples of red tape and government regulation that need reform.
“No idea is too big and no idea is too small,” Mr Holswich said.
“The Forum is an opportunity to develop a strong list of concepts and suggestions that can then be prioritized, fleshed out and acted upon.”
Mr Holswich will be joined at the Forum by other local MPs and representatives from all levels of government.
The Forum will be held in Dayboro, in the Uniting Church Hall, on Tuesday 26th June, commencing at 7:00pm. Places are limited at the Forum, so RSVPs are essential to pine.rivers@parliament.qld.gov.au. – RSVP by 22nd June.
