June2012_DAYBORO FEATURES IN COMMUNITY GROUPS TO RECEIVE FUNDING BOOST
Dayboro Bowls Club and Dayboro Mens Shed Inc. feature amongst a number of Pine Rivers community groups that have been given a financial boost by the State Government. The Pine Rivers State Electorate area benefited to the tune of $127,000 in funding allocated from the latest round of Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF).
The fund uses taxes from Golden Casket lotteries, wagering, keno and gaming machines to pay out grants to Queensland community organisations.
Pine Rivers MP, Mr Seath Holswich, said the money was given to grassroots community groups to assist with their programs and services.
“Funding is a constant issue for not-for-profit organisations so it is great that the Government can give them an injection of money,” Mr Holswich said.
“These organisations work tirelessly for their particular cause and provide important services to our local community.
This grant money is vitally important for an organisation such as Dayboro Bowls Club. This money will help them rebuild their kitchen, which was extensively damaged in the January 2011 floods.
The Women’s Health & Mother Baby Hub at Strathpine provides crucial services for young families in our region and I am pleased to see them benefitting from these grants.
The Newman Government supports the valuable work being done by not-for-profit organisations and recognises the significant and vital contributions they make to our State.
The GCBF is a way the Government can extend a helping hand to ensure these local community programs and projects continue,” said Mr Holswich.
The organisations receiving grants within the Pine Rivers electorate are:
Dayboro Bowls Club $31,818.18
Dayboro Mens Shed Inc. $ 9,610.91
South Pine Sports Association Inc $75,791.93
Women’s Health & Mother Baby Hub,
Strathpine $ 9,801.00
