June 2010 . . Unitywater on the road on 1 July
Unitywater Chairman Jim Soorley and Chief Executive Officer Jon Black recently came together with the Unitywater Board and staff to place signage on the first of the vehicles that will be transferred to Unitywater from Moreton Bay Water on 1 July 2010.
Unitywater is the new statutory authority set up by the State Government to manage water supply and sewerage services in the Moreton Bay and Sunshine Coast regional council areas from 1 July 2010.
It will combine the expertise and experience of approximately 900 staff from the councils’ water businesses, which transition to Unitywater on 1 July.
Mr Black said ‘Re-badging the Moreton Bay Water and Sunshine Coast Water vehicles before 1 July gives customers and residents across the region more time to become familiar with Unitywater, their new water supply and sewerage services business.
‘Unitywater vehicles will be seen on the road now, but council staff are still providing services for the two council regions until 30 June, when responsibility transfers to the new business. Customers still need to call the councils for any water supply or sewerage issues they have until then.
‘The new signage really is about getting the new name and logo known in the community.’
Water and sewerage assets, including the vehicle fleet, will be transferred by 1 July so that Unitywater is fully operational with no disruption to services.
‘We have begun our community awareness campaign in the local media, explaining who we are and when we will start operations, which people should keep an eye out for.
‘Unitywater will be a critical business serving the regions’ communities, focused on continuing the delivery of quality service to its customers,’ Mr Black said.
