June 2010 . . Events at PINE RIVERS HERITAGE MUSEUM

Temporary Exhibitions:
Until 1st August 2010 – Fun with Weights and Measures

A hands on exhibition.  From hogsheads to pinches, sundials to water clocks, cubits to rods, and chains to furlongs.  The strange ways we have measured length, weight, time, temperature and volume.
4 June – 4 July:  Butterfly Migration
Butterflies are fragile and delicate creatures which inspire us to dream, but they are also intrepid travellers.  A number of butterfly species unique to the Moreton Bay region undertake amazing migrations for an animal of their size.  This exhibition, in conjunction with the Pine Rivers Catchment Association and Boondall Wetlands Environment Centre, will celebrate the beauty and diversity of our local butterflies.
More Upcoming Temporary Exhibitions
7 July – 1 August:  From Desert to Sea
The Pine Rivers University of the Third Age Tintart Group share their interpretations of the varied landscapes found across the Australian continent in their annual art exhibition at the Pine Rivers Heritage Museum.  Inspired by nature, these paintings celebrate the colour and vibrancy of red sands and blue waves.
12 August – 31 October:  Summers Past
A travelling exhibition from the National Archives of Australia, this showcase of photographs vividly reminds us of Australians’ enduring love affair with the sun and the sea.  For those who grew up in Australia in the 1950s and 1960s, these photographs should gently stir memories of idyllic summers spent at the beach.
12 November – end of December:
– Taming Time: Collected Clocks
Members of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors (NAWCC) will present the highlights of their collections. An horological extravaganza.
