July2015_SHOW NEWS

Hello everyone,
By the time this edition is on the streets the 60th Dayboro Show will just be a memory except for the paperwork that needs to be completed.  We hope that everyone who came along had an enjoyable experience.
Our sincere thanks to all the volunteers, sponsors and judges for so willingly giving of their time and talents to make the show a success each year.
A very successful High Tea was held on 6th June at the showgrounds in the beautifully decorated dining room, with about 30 people  in attendance, including some showgirls for the future (hopefully).  Three lovely young ladies participated in the Miss  Showgirl competition and all were very worthy of taking the title.  We are pleased to announce that Riley Lye is our Showgirl for 2015-16.  Kasey Rosenlund and Sinead Adcock are the other two entrants and it is hoped, that with some encouragement both of these girls will compete again in future years.
I am writing this article after Rodeo Take 2 was postponed yet  again.  The blue skies with occasional showers just didn’t happen so of course the ground was far too wet for patrons to sit on, the arena was too soggy and was a cause of concern for animal welfare – they would have been getting bogged up to the knees and wouldn’t have been able to perform at their best.   It was  very disappointing for all the competitors who turned up and for the Rodeo Committee and all the other volunteers who came early to prepare food etc.  Never mind – it’s on again on 9th August – we’ll be so practiced at shifting soft drinks, food, equipment etc.  The Rodeo has always been a community event raising funds for the benefit of this community that we all live in.   Can I say here how disappointed I have been with the lack of support that has been given by some groups by way of organising volunteers to assist with this event.    Thanks to those few who turned up without being asked to help with the tidy up and offerings of freezer space for breadrolls.  We just have to remember where everything is!
You may notice that there will not be the usual numbers of vans on the grounds during June and July.  This is to allow for the grounds to breathe a bit and for some maintenance work to be carried out in the camping areas.
