Renowned Opera and Song company, OPERATIF! has always included a stop at Bribie Island in its annual concerts series.  

This year we have two concerts for our Bribie Island fans this year. 

They will once again work with local resident June Daniell, whose annual coach trip to our ‘Opera in the Amphitheatre’ concert at Lake Macdonald, Cooroy, enables many local residents to attend.

The first concert is in August and it’s a real ‘show-stopper’ entitled, ‘You Are My Heart’s Delight’.  It features soprano Jennifer, baritone Stewart and their excellent accompanist John Woods, special guest, Canadian, NZ-based tenor, Derek Hill will fly in to add his magic.

“It’s a fabulous programme,” Stewart said, “with best-loved opera including Nessun Dorma, O Mio Babbino Caro and the Pearl Fishers duet along with the Merry Widow Waltz, My Heart and I, The Impossible Dream & many other passionate favourites!” The performance is on Sunday, 2nd August at 2pm, at Bribie Island Arts Centre, Banksia Beach. The second concert is a complete change of pace with ‘The Dancing Years’ offering an uplifting selection of nostalgic songs from the 20s, 30s and 40s.  Highlights include Sally, Waltz of My Heart, La vie en Rose, Ma Curly Headed Babby, The Road to Mandalay, We’ll Gather Lilacs and many more. For this programme, the special guest is renowned, larger-than-life bass, David Hibbard who is always a big hit with Bribie audiences.  The concert is on Sunday 11th October at 2pm at Bribie Island Uniting Church, Webster St, Bongaree. ‘Opera in the Amphitheatre’ at Lake Macdonald, Cooroy is on Sunday the 9th August at 2.30pm. Set in the spectacular lakeside Greek theatre within Noosa Botanic Gardens, this much-anticipated event features Jennifer and Stewart, with special guests, tenor Derek Hill, mezzo Hayley Sugars and accompanist John Woods.  For full information go to OPERATIF!’s website or call them to be put in touch with June regarding the coach transport.  However you get there, pack a picnic lunch and prepare to enjoy what promises to be a great day out!
