July2014_So what’s been happening?

This month I haven’t got anything to write about, so I’ll have to think about it. It’s hard. Karyn has gone to school for a few hours. She left at 8.30 and will be back at 11.30. I have an ideal work room with a beautiful view. Winter sun streams across my legs.
Hey, did you know I have identified fifty-seven species of birds from my front verandah and I know lots of other species around the district too. I can hear some of them right now. Special eh?
Get to work you lazy bugger.
I wonder how many nominations we’ll get for the woodchops at the Show ………
I’ll have to get two new tyres for the Hilux ……….
The yard needs a tidy up ……
Come on, think of a topic.
The leaves in the gutters need cleaning out ……
I should go and dump the rubbish … and collect the mail while I’m there.

‘Hello,’ she says, ‘I’m back.’
‘Who’s there?’ I try to think, befuddled.
‘Me. How’s it going?’ She’s standing in the doorway and I’m draped over my chair, legs on the desk and, until thirty seconds ago, head lolling, snoring rhythmically.
‘Hell I must have dozed off for a moment or two, darl. Yeah this chapter is shaping up well. I’ve done a fair bit on it this morning. I think the publisher will be pretty impressed.’
‘Weren’t you doing an article for the Grapevine?’
An unusual look crossed her face.
‘Has there been a blackout this morning?’
‘No. Why? I don’t think so.’
‘Because your computer isn’t turned on.’
