Moreton Bay Regional Council’s 2014/15 Budget will provide more than $8.5 million for key road, drainage, park and recreation projects across Division 11.
Division 11 Councillor Bob Millar said the budget included upgrades to roads across the division that were affected by extreme weather events in 2013.
“Almost $6 million will be spent on new guardrails, resurfacing and embankment repairs across the Division,” Cr Millar said.
“This is a budget that focuses on making our local roads safer.”
Key road projects in the 2014/15 budget include:
$2.3 million for road resurfacing throughout the Division
$1.7 million for rehabilitation of Mount Nebo Road
$440,000 for an intersection upgrade on New Settlement Road at Narangba
$400,000 for embankment repair on Laceys Creek Road at Laceys Creek
$310,000 for embankment repair on Boongala Court at Kobble Creek
Cr Millar said almost $1.5 million had been allocated to improve stormwater infrastructure across the division.
“Council will spend $655,000 to improve drainage on Showground Creeks at Dayboro, along with $320,000 to construct a culvert on Basin Road at Samsonvale,” he said.
“Almost $250,000 will be spent on causeway construction on Pringles Road at Kobble Creek.
“Our budget also includes almost $272,000 for environmental initiatives.
“Rehabilitation and revegetation works will be carried out in reserves and parks at Kurwongbah, Highvale, Mount Nebo and Samford Valley.”
Cr Millar said local sporting grounds would receive $475,000 for facility, electrical and irrigation upgrades.
“The amenities at Samford Showgrounds and Denis Goodwin Reserve will receive a $260,000 upgrade while a further $100,000 will be spent on playground equipment and recreation trails in Samford Valley.
