And the people’s choice is…
A colourful depiction of coastal wildlife has won the People’s Choice Award at this year’s Moreton Bay Region Art Awards.
Trisha Mason was awarded the $1,000 prize for her unique and modern painting, Eternal Sand and Surf, after receiving the most votes from visitors.
Moreton Bay Regional Council Deputy Mayor and Division 9 Councillor Mike Charlton congratulated the Strathpine-based artist on her achievement.
“The Moreton Bay Region Art Awards continues to demonstrate the creativity, passion and skill of artists such as Trisha,” Cr Charlton said.
“Trisha draws on both her personal experiences and Indigenous heritage to create pieces that are beautiful and emotional.
“Trisha’s work has resonated with visitors and is a worthy winner of the People’s Choice Award.”
The Moreton Bay Region Art Awards was held from May 17 to May 25 at the Strathpine Community Centre.
Artists James and Eleanor Avery and Josie Kunoth Petyarre were the major prize winners.
