Children’s Health and Nutrition – The Parents Jury

http://www.parentsjury.org.au

The Parents Jury is an advocacy group campaigning through the web for better health, fitness and nutrition for children.  They are supported by a number of groups including state branches of Diabetes Australia and the Cancer Council.

Their website is very well set up and here are three “pastes” from their home page to encourage you to have a look. Each of these then directs you to the information.

A valuable website and organisation

Healthy Schools

The Parents Jury advocates for all Australian schools to provide supportive environments for healthy eating and regular physical activity.

Food Marketing to Kids

The Parents Jury advocates to substantially reduce the marketing of junk foods to young children, initially through a ban on television advertisements for these products during children’s viewing hours.

Physical Activity

The Parents Jury advocates for improved physical activity environments for children including the provision of appropriate local neighbourhood infrastructure, active transport to and from school and no junk food sponsorship of children’s sporting activities and events.

Yes Folks, The pool is open and heated.  Swimming is a great activity for health and fitness and the gym there is fully equipped and a personal trainer is available for those who wish to take part.
