State Member for Pine Rivers
Happy New Year!
I hope you have enjoyed a relaxing and family oriented Christmas and New Year, which involved lots of rest and even more good food!  I had an enjoyable couple of weeks at home with family and am looking forward to working with our community to build a better Pine Rivers in 2014.
Mount Mee Road Repairs
I am pleased to announce that the Department of Transport and Main Roads has advised that a contract has been awarded for repairs to damage sustained on Mount Mee Road during the rain event in early 2013.  The reconstruction of Mount Mee Road is part of a $17.6 million package of works that involves repairs to 12 roads in the North Coast Region.  Reconstruction works on these roads will include earthworks, slope stabilisation and repairs to slips and pavement.
It is anticipated crews will start construction in the first quarter of 2014 and timeframes for construction on each road will be communicated to local communities and motorists.  I will notify residents of further information once it is received.
Pine Rivers Survey
The annual Pine Rivers Survey was sent out a few months ago and I have received a good number of responses. Over the Christmas break I took time to read every response to every survey, and your responses have helped to shape my priorities for 2014.  Each year I set my “Top 5 Priorities” and for 2014 they are:
Assisting families and businesses with cost of living relief
Strengthening & supporting families
Jobs Growth – Supporting local businesses to bring more jobs into Pine Rivers
Strengthening local community organisations
Implementing The Queensland Plan in Pine Rivers
These are issues that will receive a lot of my attention in 2014 and I will report on my actions against each of these on my website, newsletters and Facebook page throughout the year.  You can also explore my website, www.seathholswich.com  for further information.
