A Musical Odyssey
In their first concert of the year Sunshine Brass will take the listener “Around the world in 80 minutes” beginning with music by Mozart and going to Broadway, then from London to Moscow, from jazz to famous marches all this and more will be part of the Sunshine Brass performance at the Mt. Mee Public Hall on March 10th 2013.
Sunshine Brass, a 28 piece band, comprises an exciting mixture of youth and champion players and appear regularly on the Sunshine Coast to lovers of the finest in brass music. The audience always loves the toe tapping atmosphere that the band creates and with this concert a chance for a sing along. There has been a revival of interest in brass band music and the band is taking their unique sound to Mt. Mee which traditionally has a strong musical culture. The audience response is always very positive with spirits uplifted and ‘feel good’ atmosphere lasting for days.
Sunshine Brass does a lot more contemporary music than most bands. Their versatility at moving from the big band genre to the classical with ease is testament to the quality of players that currently perform with the band. Besides showcasing members of the band who are past Australian and Queensland champions, Sunshine Brass will also feature student performances that will showcase their emerging talents and demonstrate the exciting potential of young musicians on the Sunshine Coast.
Sunshine Brass are developing a youth program by allowing young members – playing trumpet, trombone, euphonium or tuba – the opportunity to perform with regular band members thus gaining experience with leading players.
Also in their Music Odyssey program Sunshine Brass will play music from Broadway shows, well know movie themes and the classics from their journey around the world.
