Do you like to dance

– a Call for expressions of interest for a class to start in Dayboro
Country Tap or ‘Flat Footing’ (aka Clogging)

Clogging is a great fitness and leisure sports activity.
Clogging is one of the traditional dance forms from USA.
A local class would provide social dancing and lessons to keep you fit and healthy.
Classes are low cost and clogging provides energetic yet gentle exercise for all
Are you interested?
I’m putting out feelers to see if there is any interest in starting classes in Dayboro.  It’s a great way to keep fit and enjoy some fun with friends.  Clogging is danced individually so you can come along to a class without a partner and dance. Women and men of all ages and sizes welcome.
Whether its your aim to stay fit, lose weight, or you just simply like to dance to music, clogging is a fun and social way to achieve your goal.
Dance to your own level of comfort and ability. Clogging can be an aerobic form of exercise or you can take it steady too.
What is Clogging?
It’s a form of percussion dancing with taps on your heels and toes, the dances are cued so you don’t have to memorise entire dances, just the steps that are called. It’s origins are taken from America (Appalachian mountain dancing with a fiddle), Ireland and Scotland.
Different levels would be taught in Dayboro and include Basic to Intermediate to Advance level.
For the really keen, you’d have the option to become a member of the Australian Clogging Association (ACA) though that’s not compulsory.  The ACA organise weekend Clogging Camps throughout Queensland and interstate throughout the year where you can enjoy workshopping new dances and steps and meet other clubs and their members.
If you’d be interested to come along to an open evening or you want to know a bit more then contact me as I’m keen to gauge what interest there would be in the Dayboro community for this venture.
See us at the Caboolture Country Music Festival (April 30 to May 3) where we will have demonstrations, introductory classes and a Clogging Social dance – and see what fun it is!
