Dec2013_DAYBORO TRAILRIDERS

The Big October Ride is over for another year and was very successful with two new rides.  The ‘long’ ride was very scenic and we received lots of praise for the trail used.  Although down in riders overall, more people attended, and enjoyed both the Friday and Saturday night meals.

Our entertainment was a change with a juke box playing 900 songs, and a big TV to replay photos from past and current rides.  A big thank you to Chris, Debra and Nathan for supplying them.  The TV was a big hit on Saturday night with many riders ordering the photo discs being put together now, which will be available to those interested by order through the Club.

The ride left the showgrounds at 8.30am by police escort down Mt Mee Road with the Rural Fire Brigade at the back to keep vehicles off our tail; and the Dayboro Scout Group were the much appreciated "poop scoopers".  The ride turned right into Williams Street, left into Bradley Street, through the Bowls Club car parking area, Butler’s, Strong Road, Warren’s place, Strong Road again, under Rush Creek bridge, Raaen Road, Joe Bradley’s, Will Bradley’s, stopping for smoko at the old dairy where the back up crew provided the refreshments and the horses had a drink.

The ‘long’ and ‘short’ rides split here with the ‘short’ ride heading north and then west through Pioneer, into Joe Bradley’s, Murray Road, Dayboro Road, Fingerboard Road, Mt Mee Road, and home for lunch.

The ‘long’ ride headed east into quarry country to the top of the hills overlooking Lake Samsonvale, Moreton Bay, Glass House Mountains, and the whole of Dayboro Valley, (one rider stated, "This is the best scenery you will see anywhere!").  We continued along the hills until we had to go into the valley near the jacaranda trees, back up to the saddle and the old air strip where we had our lunch stop.  Afterwards it was into Juff’s, Ross’s, Megans, the developers, Townsend Road, Mrs. Townsend’s, Col Ross’s, Craig’s, Stewart’s, and home.  Another great ride.

A special thank you to all who helped in any way – members, friends, wives, husbands, partners – it was very much appreciated and would not happen without you.

A very grateful thanks to all property owners who allow us to ride through their properties, we look forward to seeing you at our Christmas party.

I realize November 2014 is a long way off, but I highly recommend the Tenterfield Show Society weekend ride in 3,500 acres of bush and rocks, with kangaroos, koalas, etc, and tremendous views over Tenterfield and beyond.  More info as it comes to hand.
