The win was a great surprise to owners and managers Thomas and Kate Honnef who nearly didn’t make the night as it was held on the same weekend as the busy Good Food and Wine Festival. Up against so many great contenders, Kate said “Although we know we have a great product, we never expected to be voted best in Queensland!”

Ocean View Estates is located 50km from Brisbane in the scenic Ocean View area between Dayboro and Mt Mee in the Somerset Valleys Wine Region and is jointly owned by Thomas and Kate Honnef & Calvin & Rosemary Irons. Kate and Thomas attribute their success to a great team of staff who share their passion and love for true hospitality, great service delivered with a country spirit, warmth and integrity and a lot of hard work. “There are so many great people out there looking for something different to experience and if you get a chance to share your passion with them, then everyone wins”, Kate said.
“We have had great support in recent years from organisations such as Brisbane Marketing and Tourism Queensland along with DEEDI and our local Somerset Valleys Wine Region Association that has really helped us develop our product and put us and our region on the map”, Kate said.
