Dec 7th 2013 Book Launch and Gathering

It is many years since old-timers of Samsonvale and the North Pine area gathered to meet old friends and have a yarn.  So, Ken is suggesting that we have a reunion in conjunction with the launch and sale of his book at:
The Samsonvale Hall, Winn Road, Mount Samson
On December 7 at 1.30 pm
Councillor Bob Millar will lead the short formal part of the afternoon
Even if you are not interested in buying the book please come along for a yarn with old friends.
Tea and Coffee will be provided but since this is an open invitation it is not possible to calculate how many people will attend and to estimate how much food to provide, so please bring “a plate” to assist with afternoon tea.
Please join in for old times sake and encourage others to join us on the day.
Ken Gold, like his father, has written an account of his days as a citizen of Samsonvale.  It is now in the form of a 256 page book including about 100 photos.
Ken  covers life in our happy community for the seventy or so years from the early 1930’s until the turn of the century.  He tells of his days as a boy at Mt Samson school, of picnics, concerts, dances, exploring creeks and mountains and going away to boarding school.  He records the happy social life of the district over several decades.  He describes  life on  a dairy-farm of the 1950’s and the rapid changes that took place in agriculture in the post war years.  He records the dramatic change which overcame the district when the North Pine Dam was built and reflects on the almost unimaginable changes that took place in subsequent years.  This book, titled “A boy from Samsonvale”, will be offered for sale to those people who may wish to recapture the memories of times past as seen through the eyes of one of the district’s former farmers.
