DAYBORO DAY FESTIVAL Apr09 Update
– SUNDAY 31st May 2009
MARK YOUR CALENDAR
Yes that’s right, the committee are working hard to ensure that the 2009 Dayboro Day Festival and Dayboro Antique and Collectable Fair are again a success for the Dayboro community and for the Pine Rivers Region.
Have you put pen to paper re Resident of the Year Awards? Come on, we all know people in the community that need, but not ask for, some recognition for their work in the community. What about Business Achiever of the Year? We have some great businesses in Dayboro. Last but not least, Young Achiever, come on now, we have some great kids in Dayboro, so come on people, pen to paper, pen to paper, it’s too late on the 1st June. Application forms are available from ECU in Williams Street. Nominations to be in by 1st May.
We have had a great response to our ‘Apron’ appeal. Jackie has been busy taking names and contact numbers. She will contact people on her list approximately one week before the festival to arrange pick up. If you have an apron that you think will fit the bill, contact Jackie on 3425 1029.
Melissa will again be in charge of our Waterless Raft Race. We are giving this event another chance this year. It is such a popular event; it would be a shame if we could not include it in Dayboro Day. Please, please keep your children from running into the rafts and from throwing objects at the competitors. There were competitors injured last year and we do not want to see our children hurt because they get tangled up under the rafts. If you have not heard from Melissa as yet, you will soon. Because of our insurance coverage this year, we will need to advise our insurers of names of associations and contact details before the day. Melissa’s contact number is 32899061.
Barbara Abernethy, our Parade coordinator, is another person who needs to know details. Our insurers also cover the Parade so, names and contact details will be required prior to the day. With this in mind, if you have not returned your forms to Barbara, please get them in NOW. If there is no form, you will not be in the parade, even if you have been in it every year. Maybe contact Barbara even if you are not marching this year, just to let her know. Barbara can be contacted on 3425 2446.
Lexie Bell is in charge of our entertainment and sponsorship. If you have some spare coins rolling around and would like to help us out, we would really appreciate it. Contact Lexie with any entertainment or sponsorship queries on 3425 2260.
Now, who would like to help us out on the day? We need helpers at the Antique and Collectables Fair and also helpers to man the Dayboro Day Tent. It is from this tent that we will be selling the Helicopter ride tickets. Yes, the chopper is taking to the sky again.
If you can lend a hand, even for a couple of hours, we would really appreciate it. Call me on 0438 897 279 if you have some time to spare. We would love to have you on board.
Dayboro Day Festival is part of the 10-day action packed annual Pine Rivers Festival from 22 May to 31 May.
Wherever you live, enjoy the opportunity to "See it, Sense it, and Taste it" by taking part in some, if not all, of the many exciting events that make up this year’s 21st Pine Rivers Festival.
