COUNCIL IN MOVE TO GAIN MORE SPORTS FACILITIES
Moreton Bay region could gain more sports facilities by further utilising school grounds.
The Moreton Bay Regional Council will discuss the proposal with Education Queensland and principals of relevant schools.

“The proposal has the potential to free up some of the sports facilities around the region which are prone to overuse,” he said.
“Local sports club memberships are expected to continue growing at or above population growth rates and many facilities are already at capacity or close to reaching it.
“Competition between clubs for field space is increasing and overuse can affect the quality of playing surfaces,” he said.
“More joint use agreements could help benefit both the schools and sporting clubs alike.”
There already are some joint use developments and agreements between Education Queensland and Council. These encompass community facilities, swimming pools and sports grounds.
