Council begins search for CEO

Moreton Bay Regional Council has started its search for a permanent chief executive officer (CEO).

Mayor Allan Sutherland said Council is hoping to appoint a CEO as soon as possible to guide the organisation smoothly through its current critical transition period.
“The prompt appointment of a CEO will also help Council ensure stability for staff by enabling the development and introduction of a permanent organisational structure,” he said.

At its general meeting yesterday, Council gave delegation to the Mayor to appoint specialist HR consultants to manage the recruitment process.

Under the Local Government Act 1993, Council is required to appoint a CEO by September 15 – six months after the local government elections.

Acting CEO appointed:  Council has confirmed the appointment of John Rauber to the position of Acting Chief Executive Officer.

Mr Rauber, the former Interim Executive Director for Pine Rivers District, was appointed to the role following the resignation of Ray Burton.

The Acting CEO will assist Council in preparing Moreton Bay Regional Council’s first budget.

Council will soon advertise to fill the permanent position of CEO. Mayor Cr Allan Sutherland will manage the appointment process with the assistance of Deputy Mayor Cr Greg Chippendale and Cr Mike Charlton with support from senior Council staff.
