In response to many requests and concerns about the cost of water and how various levels of government are responding to price rises, I will be hosting a Water Forum for Pine Rivers residents and business owners on Tuesday 24th June from 2pm to 4pm at Strathpine Community Centre.

Moreton Bay Regional Council has awarded a $286,448 tender for the reconstruction of a road embankment on Laceys Creek Road, Laceys Creek.

An innovative water strategy program by Moreton Bay Regional Council has won national recognition for Moreton Bay Regional Council.

The Australian Water Association’s Program Innovation Award was recently presented to a full meeting of council.

MBR Library is a free app for iOS and Android, and is now available from the App Store and Google Play.

May2014_New leasing policy for community and sporting facilities

Moreton Bay Regional Council will transition to a new region-wide community leasing policy from 1 July, 2014.

Mayor Allan Sutherland said it would bring together three different tenure arrangements from the former council areas into one new policy.

DAYBORO RODEO YARDS SET FOR UPGRADE

I have been working with representatives of the Dayboro Rodeo Association and other stakeholder groups for the last few years on plans to upgrade the Rodeo facilities and see the Dayboro Rodeo continue to grow as one of the major sporting and tourism events in the Regional calendar. The arena itself was upgraded a little over twelve months ago with contributions from Council adding to the significant financial input that came from the user groups and I am pleased to have been able to secure significant additional funding in the 2013/14 budget to undertake redevelopment of the livestock holding yards.

The North Pine Dam Optimisation Study looked at a wide range of scenarios and outlines a number of management options, taking into account water supply security, dam safety, downstream impacts and economic benefits.

Local Tourism Survey

In conjunction with Member for Kallangur, Trevor Ruthenberg MP, we are looking to compile a list of the top tourism/recreational events, destinations and businesses located in the North Pine Region (Pine Rivers and Kallangur state electorates). We have created an online survey and provided a list of options, however you can also add your own.

Local secondary students are being urged to enter the 2015 Premier’s Anzac Prize for their chance to experience the historic Anzac Day centenary commemoration at Gallipoli next year.
