COUNCIL PROVIDES FLOOD DAMAGE COLLECTION SERVICE June09

mbrc_logo2__47x14mm_96dpi.jpgMoreton Bay region residents affected by the recent floods can register to have flood-damaged household waste collected via a kerbside collection service.
The service is limited to flood affected residents only and does not cover green waste.
Mayor Allan Sutherland said affected residents just needed to call 3205 0555 to register for the service.
“The service is designed to assist their recovery from last week’s major deluge,” he said.

WATER HYACINTH FLUSHED OUT BY RAIN POSES NO THREAT June09

mbrc_logo2__47x14mm_96dpi.jpgRecent heavy rain has flushed waterweed out of catchment areas to areas including Hays Inlet, Pine River estuaries, Bramble Bay and along the Redcliffe foreshore.
A Moreton Bay Regional Council spokesperson said the floating aquatic plant has been identified as Water hyacinth Eichhorina crassipes.

On Monday the 11th May 2009 I was pleased to participate in the launch of the brochure – Dayboro “The Town of Yesteryear” Historical Town Walk, and join many other local long standing residents and recent arrivals in celebrating this significant activity.
The ‘Walk’ will provide visitors to Dayboro the opportunity to undertake the significant learning experience about Dayboro, and in particular, the 18 historical sites around the Village.
