When I wrote the first column for 2011 this time last year it was a very distressing time for us all with the devastating floods that hit the region. It has been a difficult year for those immediately affected while they worked through insurance issues and rebuilt their homes and businesses and for some this is still ongoing.

The Bligh Government has made kindergarten even more affordable for low-income families, offering cheaper fees for Health Care Card holders.
