The weather during the year just concluded was certainly “out of the box”. At home here on Kalahari Downs we had a generous 700mm in January last year – almost equalling the total for some recent years.

Biosecurity Queensland and Biosecurity New South Wales have developed a Hendra virus survey aimed at understanding the practices of horse owners. The survey closes on 28 February 2012.
Queensland Chief Veterinary Officer, Dr Rick Symons said the ‘Horse Owner Survey on Hendra Virus’ is aimed at providing an insight into the practices, attitudes and opinions of horse owners.

Welcome to our first edition for 2012. Thankfully this year was not off to as dramatic a start as was 2011 – although there were residents ill at ease with the rainfall we received in mid to late January 2012. No doubt many folk who were badly affected by last year’s flooding may have noticed their anxiety levels rising, even if they had relocated to higher ground since then.
