Recreational fishers are reminded to brush up on fishing gear rules after a fisher was fined $2,000 in the Oakey Magistrates Court, southern Queensland, for using almost three times the legal number of set lines. (The legal limit is six per person.)

A small insect, known as the leaf-mining jewel beetle (Hylaeogena jureceki), will be released in locations around southeast Queensland to help fight the spread of the exotic weed cat’s claw creeper.
