Property Offences
Over the last month there has been a drop in the number of break and enter offences.  However, on 26th June there was still a burglary at Sunrise Drive Ocean View.  Entry was forced to a bedroom window and jewellery stolen.  Most of the items were recovered at Bracken Ridge on 27th June.

High School Disco hits are set to take Moreton Bay Regional Council’s Decades Festival by storm on October 18 at Pine Rivers Park.
Deputy Mayor Mike Charlton said House Husbands, Dancing with the Stars and Home and Away star Tim Campbell had been confirmed for the Decades Festival to perform the big hits from his debut CD High School Disco.

Aug2014_Some short stories about VC Recipients

The ‘A J Shout’ on the Roll is Captain Alfred John Shout VC MC MID, 1st Battalion AIF, Australia’s most decorated soldier of the Gallipoli campaign. His VC was posthumously awarded as Shout died of wounds suffered during the incident at the Battle of Lone Pine for which he earned the medal. Men like Shout were often the most ready to concede that the bravery and sacrifice of thousands of other soldiers went unrecorded and remained unknown except to their comrades in arms.

It was a slow and very cold 5degree start but hotted up later and was a hugely successful day with us selling out.  Without exception all the volunteers said they had a great time and we are all keen to repeat it.  Special thanks go to Bunnings for allowing these fundraising events.

When disaster strikes… none of us lives in a capsule that insulates us from life’s crisis’ and the thing about being broadsided by an unexpected life event is that “you never saw it coming!”  Whether it be a sudden illness, death of a loved one, bad news from afar, a car accident or whatever, it can suddenly plunge us from ‘cruise mode’ into a blackness of shock, despair and even eventually depression.

Yes, it has turned into a cold winter –  plenty of Mountain paddocks are looking frostbitten and plenty of cattle are learning about Jenny Craig. But it’s almost Ekka time and things will soon warm up. Whether or not the gods will bring rain is a matter for conjecture though – the SOI isn’t very promising.
