It was the mid-`50s when a young Valerie Linnane from Dayboro caught the eye of a handsome, motorbike-riding farmer from Laceys Creek. After several years attending the local picture shows, dances and hooning around on the said motorbike, John and Valerie married at Nundah in 1959.

Stan was born on 1st June 1929 in Brisbane. He and his family lived at Closeburn/Cedar Creek, then a few years after his marriage, he bought a dairy farm at Hills Road, Closeburn, now Mount Samson.

Locals restoring the 84 year old Cedar Creek Public Hall have been overwhelmed with the interest from all the surrounding districts including Samsonvale, Kobble, Dayboro and beyond.
Thanks go to the more than three hundred people who turned out to share a mug of soup and some laughs with each other on the Queen’s Birthday Monday in June.
