George Hartnett Funerals and the Salvation Army are in partnership for a blanket drive. For every donated blanket, George Hartnett Funerals will match it with a new blanket and then they will all be donated to the Salvation Army.

Put a note in your your diary – or on your calendar – to head along to the Dickson Seniors Expo at Strathpine Community Centre in Mecklem Street, near Peter Dutton’s office opposite the old Council Office in Gympie Road, Strathpine.

Sunday 14th June at Dayboro Community Hall.

While you mingle with the performers, enjoy an afternoon tea included in the $15 admission price.

School Watch

The next school holiday period starts on 27th June and as has been the case for a number of years, a group of local volunteers help us take the school watch program one step further by walking through the school at random times and reporting anything suspicious.  If you would like to volunteer please contact Dayboro Police Station.

Our next meeting is for 11a.m. on the 17th June at the Murrumba Downs Tavern , Dohles Rock Road. We shall be discussing the four resolutions that are to be presented at the VIEW Club National Convention in Wollongong, New South Wales in July.

We are still enjoying a wonderful autumn on the Mountain.  There has been enough warmth and moisture to keep things going, although as I write we have a very cold snap and I am huddled over a heater.  But, it is mid-May!  But the sombre news is that el Nino is back.  Sometimes el Nino hasn’t treated us too badly, so let’s hope that will be the case this time.

Beautiful weather and visitors started to arrive early.  Cups of tea/coffee with Anzac Biscuits was a very popular pit stop. Charlie was kept busy sharing his knowledge and know how on information relating to our Anzacs.  Martin and Michael in the blacksmith shop were kept going displaying their knowledge on the forge.  One of our younger visitors, Georgia Fitzgerald of Samford was fortunate and happy enough to don a replica of a Viking’s outfit, worn around 1000 to 1200.  This very heavy and impressive outfit was made by Martin.
