Australia Day – Take Two ? Samford Museum

Unfortunately, because of the weather our Australia Day was cancelled, however we are holding  AUSTRALIA DAY –TAKE TWO  on SUNDAY 12th FEBRUARY.
Everything as originally planned is still on, except the Great Horse Ride.

Additionally, at 8:30 we will be hosting the Dickson Awards which are presented to Community Achievers by Peter Dutton. The Presentation last for 45 minutes and will be at the re-located Ferny Grove Rail Station.

Later, former Mayor of P.R.S.C., Yvonne Chapman, is coming to open our  new dedicated Toy Section , “Toys of Times Past”. It features very old and not so old restored and original toys.

By 9:00 a.m. the different Car Clubs should start to arrive and fill the park. Last year we had around 12 different car clubs represented. The Steam Roller (Steam Powered), sponsored by Samford Hotel, is staying and will be displayed in the Park along with the Vintage Motor Bikes.
There will be Vintage Tractors and Machinery, the Bounty Bush Band will be playing, Bush Poets Russell Plunket and Rylle Wynn, with his latest book for sale, face=painting, pyograpyh by award winning artist Jenny Harris, thong throwing and best decorated bike competitions.

Timber skills demonstrations from the Bullocky Days, Blacksmith operating, Trevor Ryan on his Penny Farthing Bike, a working display of Miniature Steam and Petrol Engines along with some slightly bigger Engines  will be provided by members of the Gap Historical Society, are also on the agenda.

A raffle will be held on the day with a Quilt donated by Bev. McDowall being First Prize and a Wheelbarrow load of Groceries as Second Prize and drawn at 3:00 PM

B.B.Q., Damper , Tea and Coffee , Soft Drinks and other refreshments available all day .
Copies of Samford Reminiscences available singly or $40.00 for the set of 5 books – Samford’s Past as recollected by some of the early families.

Admission will be $6.00 for adults and $2.00 for children over 5 and Students . A concession of $15.00 for a Family will also apply.

See you at the Museum at the far end of John Scott for AUSTRALIA DAY – TAKE TWO – it should be a great family day out.
