We certainly have experienced some frosty weather recently but it certainly didn’t stop people from enjoying the Diamond Jubilee Show in Dayboro.  A big thank you to all those volunteers involved in making the show a success.  Let’s hope we get some good weather for the Rodeo!
Local Budget highlights
The Palaszczuk Labor Government’s first budget has delivered for communities in Pine Rivers.
Having spoken with many locals, I know our community is in desperate need of good jobs, restored frontline services and upgraded infrastructure.  I believe that this budget, while modest, invests in projects that strengthen and rejuvenate our local communities.
State Budget highlights for Pine Rivers include $364,000 to undergo flood mitigation works at the Dayboro  Showgrounds.  The Dayboro Water Supply Zone will also be upgraded, providing a new pipeline for long term supply after the Dayboro Water Treatment Plant was taken offline after flooding.
I often hear stories about the devastating impacts that flood events have had on the community, and this budget delivers funds to protect the local water supply infrastructure into the future.
As we saw with the recent terrific Dayboro Jubilee Show, the showgrounds are a widely used community asset and the flood mitigation works are a preventative measure to protect the area from severe flooding events.

Additional funding worth $600,000 was also secured to complete replacement works of the Dayboro auxiliary fire and rescue station.  The replacement works at the fire and rescue station will ensure we have a modern facility for our frontline services in the community.
Community Grant a win for Tennis Club
In other news, I was delighted to recently visit the Dayboro Tennis Club and congratulate them on their successful Gambling Community Benefit Fund application.  This grant worth $15,577.26 will be used to purchase equipment to complement the newly opened clubhouse.
Get in the Game Grants
Additional grants for sporting clubs as part of the continuing Get in the Game fund are now also open.  There are a variety of new grants available, including Get Playing Plus which provides funding between $300,000 and $1.5 million for new or upgraded sport and recreation facilities that meet regional and community needs.  For more information about these grants, please visit www.npsr.qld.gov.au/getinthegame
