Aug2015_Dayboro Players in 2015 presenting

Roll up, roll up for the best show in town!  Two nights only!
Dayboro Players are hitting the boards in the Community Hall on 11th and 12th September with their latest production “The Last Resort” by Judith Prior.

They have been rehearsing for 8 weeks now and are still laughing so it promises to be a good show.  The humour is smart, honest and occasionally offbeat, so something for everyone.

The cast features some regular members; where would the players be without the comedic skills of Joe Calam?  Although he has competition from the very dynamic Laura McIntosh and newcomer Karyn Summers who form a very entertaining duo of elderly busybodies.  Whilst the overly bubbly and eternally bright receptionist is beautifully played by Sinead Adcock.

Back with the Players after a year off is Carly Smith who, once again, shows great talent and is a perfect foil for Thelma Purves as her whinging friend.  It is hard to believe that last year was the first time Thelma had performed on stage.  Thelma is one of three family partnerships in the Players; Carl, her son, is taking the role of MC.

The second of our partnerships is Karyn and David Fitzgerald.  David only came along to support Karyn at the auditions and is now making his world acting debut, with only a little arm twisting involved!

The third family pairing is mother and daughter, Sarah and Juliette Ashby.  Juliette is in a cameo role because of school commitments and Sarah has decided to step behind the scenes this year and is thoroughly enjoying directing.  She said “The cast are such fun to work with and very open to direction.  I think anyone who comes to see the play will be sure to have a great night out”

Another familiar face is Barry Green.  He has graduated from a newcomer last year to experienced player, and he is the aged, but not faded, romantic lead and plays opposite another newcomer, Helen Goleby, a very reluctant visitor to the retirement village where the play is situated.
With such a talented cast, who can fail to have a good time?  Don’t forget, the price of the ticket includes a two course meal – spaces are limited so book early! (See EVENTS page for details)
