Aug2014_OCEAN VIEW RURAL FIRE BRIGADE NEWS
The last six months at the Ocean View Rural Fire Brigade have been a busy and successful period. Below are some of the highlights in which we would like to share.
QFES Assistant Commissioner Volunteer Award
Our First Officer Mark Sellin was awarded the QFES Assistant Commissioner Volunteer Award late last year. This award recognises Mark’s dedication and commitment to the Ocean View community. We would like to congratulate Mark on this acknowledgement of his service.
Australia Day Award
The brigade was presented with the Dickson Volunteer Group of the Year Australia Day award. This reflects the commitment of our volunteers’ efforts in their service to the community. Without the team effort our brigade could not have achieved this award. Together we know that we can achieve great results.
New Appliance
OVRFB took possession of a new appliance earlier in the year, OV51. This is a single cab appliance with a tank capacity of 1800 litres which is a replacement for one of our older appliances.
Car Park
OVRFB were successful in securing funds through the Jupiters Grant, to extended and level our station car park. Work has now been completed and the station looks fantastic, the level area provides our members with an additional hard surface training area.
Service Medals
Numerous members of our brigade were awarded the QFES Diligent and Ethical Service Medal. These awards were presented to members of the brigade in recognition of providing active service for a period of 10 years. Congratulations to Madonna O’Brien, Ben Henderson, Norma Wood and Col Miles.
AGM
Our 2014 AGM is scheduled for Saturday 13th September, we extended an invitation to residents to attend this meeting, the meeting will commence at 1000h. We welcome new members to be a part of the Ocean View team.
