Water Forum
I recently held a forum for Pine Rivers residents and business owners about the rising costs of water. Minister for Energy and Water Supply, The Hon Mark McArdle, joined us to discuss some of the reforms our government is putting in place to ease the pain of water prices. I understand the significance of this issue and how much water prices are impacting the majority of Pine Rivers residents and businesses.
It is an issue with no easy solution, but I will continue to work with Pine Rivers residents and businesses on this important issue. I am planning further meetings and discussions on this issue, so if you are interested in participating in these discussions, please contact my office and we’ll add you to the contact list.
Wakakirri
By the time you’re reading this edition of the Grapevine, Dayboro State School’s performance in the Wakakirri Story Dance Competition will have already taken place. It was a pleasure though to attend the dress rehearsal evening at Dayboro SS during July to see the fantastic performance. The costumes and props were amazing, as was the enthusiasm and skill of each of the student performers. Congratulations students, and congratulations to their dedicated support team – you have once again done your school and your community proud!
Dayboro Show
Congratulations to everyone involved in this year’s Dayboro Show. I was pleased to be able to support this year’s Show as a sponsor, exhibitor and through the use of my marquees for our local crime prevention agencies. This annual show is a credit to our community and just one of the events that makes our region great!
Gambling Community Benefit Fund Grants
Congratulations to the Dayboro and District Junior Rugby Club and Lions Club of Dayboro, on the success of their Gambling Community Benefit Fund grant applications. The Dayboro and District Junior Rugby Club received $23,636 to construct a shade cover over their spectator area and the Lions Club of Dayboro received $20,361 to install a fitness circuit in the park.
I encourage all local community groups, however big or small, to apply for the next round of Gambling Community Benefit Fund grants before the end of August 2014 and make the most of this wonderful opportunity.
