A book on the Bergin family by Melva Welch OAM
At $35 each, copies are available anytime from 11 Bargo Street, Arana Hills;
or from The Samford Museum on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Bergin Beauty book purchased by Dee Fallon provided her with many new stories about her relatives. Ninety years ago, Hugh Bergin, one of the six sons of J. D. Bergin married Eileen, one of the daughters of Bridget Rawlings, licensed victualler of the only hotel in Samford. Their daughter Dee (Dympna Mary Catherine Bergin) born 1926, is the only living grandchild of John and Jane Bergin who worked Samford Pastoral Station from 1877. Dee married Jack Fallon, and their son Michael has continued a presence in the Samford district as a Director of the retirement facility located close to the well-known little Catholic Church on the hill.
