OPEN DAY Sat. 25th August 2012
Rural firefighters from Samsonvale will once again be hosting an open day and are encouraging local residents to join in the action.
On Saturday 25 August, from 10am to 2pm, the brigade will host a range of activities which will include a special appearance from Blazer the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) Safety Koala and joy rides on ‘Little Squirt’ for the kids.
A kitchen fire simulator will be on display and families can enjoy a free sausage sizzle.
With firefighters currently preparing for the anticipated bushfire season, local residents will also be able to learn how they can prepare themselves and their properties with a range of PREPARE.ACT.SURVIVE demonstrations on show.
Being bushfire prepared is a community effort and by coming along on August 25 residents will be working together to understand the risks involved in living close to bushland.
Children will also learn fire safety techniques which could potentially save lives.
