Aug2012_DAYBORO TRAILRIDERS
The working bee was extra special with a great number of members lending a hand. We have now finished painting the Show Grounds’ toilets and completed many other jobs on and around the club shed, including guttering and drainage. A huge thank you to all who attended. It will make a big difference when it rains. The team penning at the Show was down in nominations, as unfortunately, there was some misinformation floating around. However, the day was very successful in members’ response to help on the day, and in praise received from competitors on the quality of cattle supplied.
Our thanks and appreciation to Eleanor and Joe who once again supported us for this annual event.
Next year’s event will be advertised on a wider scale, and the date set early so that team penners from further afield can mark their calendars.

Our Club’s last ride was very well attended with 30 riders leaving the Showgrounds via Tullamore Park, crossing Williams St, down Railway St, Butler’s, Strong Rd, crossing Mt Samson Rd, Juff’s Rd – a quick hello to Lee – then on to Old Cream Track Rd, Juff’s, Glover Rd, Richardson’s – where, unfortunately, Denise was tipped off her horse. Peggy and Dr Adrian assisted her and placed her arm in a sling; and a ‘good Samaritan’ lady who was visiting Richardson’s, transported her to the ambulance station and from there she was taken to hospital.
We restarted the ride, but Ken’s horse was playing up and he returned home. After leaving Richardson’s we entered Willards, Dick’s, Humble’s, crossed the Pine River again, Hillview Park, Riverview Court, McKenzie St, Edmonds Crt, the Park, and back to the Showgrounds.
Don and Noella had lunch underway and when the meat was ready we enjoyed a hearty lunch with a lovely dessert.
After some discussion re the working bee and team penning, we packed up and home we went after one more great day horse riding. A highlight being the younger children who rode with us.
An update on Denise – xrays and scans revealed a break in her shoulder as well as her left humerus, below the rota cuff joint, which required surgery. Thankfully she is now at home and on the mend.
Our next ride is on Sunday 26th August and will be an all day ride.
