The wonderful Savoyard Singers will be back in the Mt Mee Hall on Sunday 11th September, with the concert, entitled “Springtime, Music & You” starting at 2pm sharp.
The Singers are led by Phyll Griffin, who began her professonal career with Lyric Opera of Queensland.  Her roles with the Savoyards have included Yum Yum in  “Mikado”, Buttercup in “Pinafore” and Lisa in Franz Lehar’s “Land of Smiles”.
As founder and artistic director of the “Singers” she brings tremendous experience and talent, and the ability to have her performers run a ‘tight ship’.
The team have all performed in stage productions of the parent “Savoyard Musical Comedy Society”, which most recently ran  a season of  “My Fair Lady” in truly brilliant  style.
Admission is $20.00, or just $15.00 for pension card holders, and this does include the legendary interval afternoon tea.
Booking is absolutely essential for catering purposes – please phone Kay on 5498 2104 or Joyce on 5498 2270.
SPRINGTIME,MUSIC & YOU
Wonderful music in a beautiful setting…!  That can only describe Mount Mee with its scenic splendour in the spring, and The Savoyard Singers who return for their annual visit to present a delightful afternoon of enchanting melodies from operetta, with its elegant sparkling scores, and in contrast the rousing musical scores from many of your favourite musicals bursting with life and laughter.
In the world of operetta love is not always portrayed as being straight forward, and at times can be romantically intriguing. Such is the case with many of our chosen songs from the timeless classics.  You will be taken on this journey by our first number from "The Whitehorse Inn" when the head-waiter found that falling in love with the attractive owner of the establishment can mean instant dismissal.
This is followed by some nostalgic fun when the boys sing from "Sweethearts" of their Pilgrims’ Progress.  We have from "The Student Prince" Mary’s memories of her Summertime in Heidelberg.  Stressing romance and escapism, we have songs from "New Moon", “Merry Widow", "Bitter Sweet" and "The Count of Luxembourg", and one you may not have heard for quite some time "Balalaika".  To close this section of our programme we end with a toast in praise of, no not love everlasting, but King Champagne.
After interval, the mood changes to a selection of songs from the get happy hits of "Call me Madam", "Guys & Dolls", "The Producers", "The Secret Garden" and "Gypsy".  We also have some toe tapping tunes like "Puttin on the Ritz" and "Cheek to Cheek", and from "Hello Dolly”. Yes…., you guessed it, we end with the title tune that is so irresistible and deliriously tuneful.
Come along and enjoy springtime in Mount Mee with the Savoyard Singers, and of course don’t forget the delicious afternoon tea that is part of the ticket package.
So looking forward to seeing you all once again on Sunday 11th September.
Phyll Griffin, Artistic Director,

Savoyard Singers.
