The Lyell Deer Farm nestles in a tranquil corner of the beautiful Samford Valley in the foothills of towering Mt. Samson.  A natural rural atmosphere with the ambience of quiet deer.
We, Des and Maureen Pickstone, have an area of land on our property which is protected under the State Government (E.P.A.) Environmental Protection Act  as a Rare Eco Region and it is our vision to keep this land in its natural state and to honour the land  as a Place for Multicultural Inter Tribal Gatherings.  The land has been blessed by an Aboriginal Elder representing the Dungidau Tribe who were the original  inhabitants.  We honour ourselves on this land and invite members of all cultures to join us with ideas to build and develop the land for cultural activities in keeping with the environment.
Our Medicine Wheel was created in Tiwa/Hopi Tradition by Native American Medicine Woman Verlinda Montoya, Mato Ta Pejuta Wakan Nawjin, translation Bear Medicine Standing Sacred. 10th. November 2007.  The Medicine Wheel has the power and the ability during ceremony to connect us to Powerful Spirits, Spiritual harmony and our own healing.
A ceremony will be held on the 8th. November 2008 to burn the Prayer Sticks which were created by the participants, powered and blessed in the traditional Lakota Inipi Sweat Lodge and used in the Medicine Wheel Healing Ceremony.
Medicine Lodge Gatherings,  Full Moon Drumming Circles, New Moon Women’s Circles and empowering Spiritual  Ceremonies are held through the year.
Traditional  Medicine Drum making workshops are also held regularly.
We have a Women’s Sacred  Space being developed  where Women’s Circles and Teachings will be held.  The area and Tipi will be available for the use of Multicultural Women’s Groups.
Our Facilities are available for hire for Seminars /Workshops/Gatherings/Functions/Weddings/Hand Fasting Ceremonies/Celtic/Medieval and Alternative Style Baby Namings/Blessings.etc.
Fairy Festivals and Parties are held in our Bush Fairy Garden. “Boomajarill”, where we honour  the “wee” folk and spirits of the bush in a big way.
We have a large function  area with all weather protection for 80/100 people.  Country style catering is available for groups or gatherings at reasonable costs.  Plenty of Parking.
To preserve the serenity and sanctity of our Sacred Land and to promote the ongoing sustainability and viability of our deer farm we have commenced an “Adopt a Deer Program.” which has special privileges attached to it for all who participate .
Any support by way of contribution or sponsorship  will go a long way to help preserve our unspoilt environment and keep our Sacred Land, once the home of our Aboriginal Ancestors, a  haven for Native wildlife, a Place of Peace and a Place for sharing the native cultures of Indigenous, Native American, Maori and other cultural groups through their music, ceremonies and ritual interconnectedness with our great Mother, planet Earth for generations to come.
