April 2010 . . Laurie Lawrence Helping Save Kids Lives

Laurie Lawrence has teamed with the Australian Government to produce a comprehensive free water safety DVD for parents and caregivers of children under five years of age.
“Sadly, since the year 2000, over three hundred children under five have drowned in Australia. I don’t want to see these devastating statistics climb any further,” said Laurie Lawrence.
Local Federal MP, Peter Dutton met with Laurie Lawrence recently at a function promoting Living with Water and encourages all young families to take advantage of this important offer.
“Laurie has always been passionate about preventing children drowning and I applaud his efforts in once again investing in such a worthwhile project,” said Peter Dutton.
“The DVD covers all aspects of water safety with an easy to view format broken down into developmental stages to outline specific water hazards as your child grows.”
“As a father of three young children it is devastating to hear the stories of families who have lost a child through drowning. It sends a powerful message to us that we need to arm ourselves with knowledge on preventing drowning and saving lives.”
Mr Dutton has been providing parents of young children with a free copy of the DVD when they have visited his mobile office in recent weeks and invites other parents to stop and get their copy when they see his mobile caravan in their neighbourhood.
Over 200,000 DVD’s have been produced and Dickson residents can obtain a copy by contacting Mr Dutton’s electorate office on 3205 9977 or go to Laurie Lawrence’s website, www.kidsalive.com.au .
