Apr2015_Pine Rivers VIEW Club

We celebrated our 19th birthday at our March meeting – with the theme “ South Pacific”.  Many members dressed for the occasion wearing leis and flowers in their hair, creating a very festive atmosphere.  After the general business we had a Trivia Quiz which tested our knowledge of the Pacific Ocean and the musical show South Pacific.  

Cathy, who is the owner of Helloworld, then gave us a short, informative talk about many Pacific islands.  She then introduced us to Tai who is from Samoa.  Tai gave us a very interesting insight into the everyday life, and the many responsibilities, of a Samoan woman.  Tai’s twin daughters Octavia and Oraylia, together with their friend Gabrielle, then entertained us with a few Samoan dances.  A fascinating and interesting morning was enjoyed by all.

We hold our meetings on every third Wednesday of the month.  Our next meeting will be held on 15th April at 11am at the Murrumba Downs Tavern, Dohles Rock Road.  Our guest speaker at this meeting will be Denis Wyper who will be speaking on Dame Joan Sutherland.  Please phone Sandra 3425 2738 or Elizabeth 3886 4937, if you would like to attend or want more information. 

Pine Rivers VIEW welcomes visitors and new members to our meetings and to our other social activities each month.  We provide women an opportunity to meet regularly with other women, establish lasting friendships and help disadvantaged Australian children. All funds raised are donated to ‘The Smith Family Foundation’ and their ‘Learning for Life’ program, which provides education scholarships and personal support to these students.
