By the time you read this, Easter Eggs will be on sale at less than half-price, and we haven’t got another public holiday until Queen’s Birthday.  Christian churches will have observed their greatest week of the year, through marking Jesus’ death and then his resurrection.  There are independent (independent of Christian apologists, I mean) records that he lived, and consequently we assume that he was born, and independent records of his death by crucifixion.  But the only evidence for his resurrection is that people who had lived and worked with him daily for three years were so convinced of it that they were prepared to die themselves in the cause of spreading the good news that Jesus had beaten physical death and that so would their listeners and readers.
So for this core of the Christian creed, we fall back on faith. Faith isn’t a cop-out, you know.  Just imagine that you only trusted things which you could touch and see, and over which you had control.  You’d have a pretty circumscribed life, wouldn’t you?  Replace “faith” with “trust”, and you get the idea.  You can’t just rustle up this faith, this trust, in a risen-from-the-dead Jesus yourself, so don’t beat yourself up about it.  Just trust that I’m trusting God for you.
