Apr2014_Dayboro Community Kindergarten

‘Mummy, is it a kindy day today?’  This is the question I am asked by my daughter every morning since the beginning of first term at Dayboro Community Kindergarten.  I listen as my children go on to discuss the outdoor play area, sandpit, poultry yard and vegetable gardens and all the activities in between.

Already this year the children have had a visit from Ocean Life Education (where they saw, touched and learnt about number of different aquatic animals), commenced art lessons with the talented Sally, and watched chicks hatch out of eggs that were incubated at Kindy.  A show called “Compost Kids: Going Potty/The Wonder of Worms” is scheduled to visit in May.  This is always a big hit with the children as they really get to see the benefits of keeping worms.

There have also been some exciting changes to the Kindy yard this year.  We have had some new dirt mounds created in both the main yard and the vegetable/poultry yard which have been turfed and will soon be ready for the children to explore and create new play.  We are looking forward to the installation of a brand new fort in the coming months after the previous fort was damaged in a storm over 12 months ago. Kindy is also in the process of having a bike path constructed in the poultry/vegetable area for the children to ride their bikes around.

As a parent, I am delighted that my children have had such an exciting, fun-filled and educational experience at Dayboro Kindy.  I have the highest praise and respect for Robyn, Jodie, Isobel and Karen who are so dedicated, caring and supportive. Both of my children have absolutely thrived in their care and I’m already a little sad that this year is the last year that I will have children attending the Kindy.

Dayboro Kindy is a community-based, not-for-profit organisation run by a committee of parents and guardians of children attending the centre.  We cater for 3-5 year old children, with a maximum of 22 children in each kindergarten group.  We run two groups in a five day fortnight.

Children’s names can be placed on the waiting list during the financial year (1 July to 30 June) in which they turn one year old and a deposit of $25 is required.  If you would like more information, please contact Kindy staff Robyn, Jodie, Isobel or Karen by phone 3425 1589 or email dayborok@bigpond.net.au .
