Upcoming Events
On Wednesday 24th April I will be hosting a dinner at Club Pine Rivers with guest speaker Queensland Treasurer and Minister for Trade, The Hon Tim Nicholls. Mr Nicholls will be speaking about “How Pine Rivers Can Contribute to Queensland’s Economic Future”.  I will also be speaking about “Building Pine Rivers’ Economic Future”.
On Tuesday 7th May I will be hosting a lunch at the Dayboro Deli with guest speaker Minister for Tourism, Major Events, Small Business and Commonwealth Games, The Hon Jann Stuckey. Numbers are limited, so early bookings are essential. Minister Stuckey will also be meeting with a number of local business owners that day so that we can show her just how much the Dayboro region has to offer.
Please see the ad in this edition of the Grapevine for more information about both events or go to my website – www.seathholswich.com
Recreational Use of Lakes Samsonvale and Kurwongbah
During March, Minister for Energy and Water Supply, The Hon Mark McArdle, along with SEQwater representatives, met with local MPs, residents, businesses and community organisations to discuss the potential to open up Lakes Samsonvale and Kurwongbah to sustainable recreational use.
There will be a full consultation process announced shortly as SEQwater prepare a Recreational Master Plan for the lakes in coming months.
I want to ensure that every interested person/organisation gets their chance to have their say, and that the outcome is a sustainable balance between environmental protection, water quality and recreational access to the lakes.
Please keep an eye on my website for information about the consultation process.  Alternatively, you can raise your concerns or suggestions with my office and I’ll ensure they are included with submissions as part of the consultation process.
The Queensland Plan
The Premier recently announced an exciting initiative called The Queensland Plan.  The Queensland Plan will outline our shared vision for the next 30 years and identify local and statewide priorities.
The Queensland Plan will be developed through a collaborative process involving community members, business and industry representatives, state and local government officers and Members of Parliament.
I am currently calling for nominations for a Pine Rivers Working Group to provide input to The Queensland Plan.
The Pine Rivers Queensland Plan Working Group will provide input to The Queensland Plan, as well as seek wider community input during the community engagement period between May and August.
I am looking for a wide range of representatives for the Working Group who will provide a good cross-section of the Pine Rivers community.
Anyone interested in participating in the Pine Rivers Working Group should send a one page Expression of Interest to the Pine Rivers Electorate Office before Friday 12th April.
The Expression of Interest should briefly outline your background, skills and experience and a brief statement outlining why you want to be involved in the Working Group.
The Working Group will be formed in mid-April and will assist with the community engagement process between May and August this year.
To lodge an Expression of Interest for the Pine Rivers Queensland Plan Working Group, email pine.rivers@parliament.qld.gov.au or contact the Pine Rivers Electorate Office on 3205 6779.

Recreational Fishing Consultation
As a member of the Minister for Tourism Backbench Working Group, I am currently undertaking a consultation process into the value of recreational fishing for our tourism industry.  The objective of the consultation is to investigate the market gaps and potential for growth in the recreational fishing tourism sector and provide recommendations to achieve that growth.  We want the opportunity to listen to recreational fishers to see what our Government can do to help support and grow this valuable pastime and industry.
The consultation process is underway and concludes on 22nd April.  If you would like to have input into this consultation process, I’d be keen to hear from you or meet with you. Please contact my office at pine.rivers@parliament.qld.gov.au or on 3205 6779 to provide your input or to arrange a meeting.
